I have 2 trucks, both of which I love, but I need to keep one as a driver and it's time to dig into the other. Both of them have exhaust, CAI, and shift kits/servos already. I plan on doing a torque converter, headers/y-pipe, cam kit (pushrods and springs), with a tune for now and eventually make my way to boost, but no time soon. I'd love to pull out the 6.0 in my SS and toss it in the GMC, but I can't have 2 trucks down for that kinda time.... so.....
2003 Silverado SS AWD, 80k miles, some dents and dings, but nothing major.
Advantages to modding the SS:
Starting with 50 +/- hp and 1.2 more liters, AWD, has the upgraded trans from GM, and it needs some maintenance work done, so I can just upgrade as I repair.
Disadvantages:
A whole helluva lot heavier, putting a TC in an AWD vehicle is a bitch, more miles and wear and tear, it does have a few nicks and scratches that would bug me if I was trying to show off the truck anywhere, and the GMC will get driver duty, so I'll loose all the creature comforts and legroom as well as scratch up the GMC parking at work.
2006 GMC Sierra 2WD, 30k miles, no dents or scratches to speak of and clean as hell.
Advantages to modding the GMC:
Fewer miles so it's cleaner and easier to work on, It's got a huge weight advantage, it's also pretty damn clean, so I son't mind showing it off.
Disadvantages:
It's set up to tow all my **** around now, I'll loose that ability with this truck and have to use the SS, I don't know how it will do. It's only got a 3.08 gear, so that's gotta get fixed if I'm going to take advantage of the mods to the fullest.
Here's a pic of both

From: Here and sometimes there too.
Mod the GMC and keep the SS as a tow vehicle. Resale value on the SS is higher the less you mod it. And like you said the weight is worth it's weight in SOTP acceleration. You'll get more for your money out of the RCSB.
