Nope...my '04 Sierra came with the smaller radiator so I swapped in the 34" when I got rid of the clutch fan and installed the electric service. Very easy upgrade and well wothj it.

That car banged 2nd hard with the built trans and it would toss the belt. Alternator went out, put a 145 on it, problems with the belt stopped. And it was not an alignment issue, I've had to diagnose 100's of those issues at the shop.

I put a 145 amp on my truck, I was curious if the belt it had would fit, it did so I ran it. I drove it from july of 2012 to january of 2018 like that and it was 100% flawless. Never had a belt issue on that truck, I put 111k miles on it like that. Never replaced the belt or tensioner etc.

Same with my camaro. Put a 145 amp on it, reused the stock belt, drove it from late 2009 to mid 2012 and was flawless, zero belt or alternator issues after putting the 145 on it. I have a 50 page thread on ls1tech where I showed guys what to do to put a 145 on F bodies, they all reused the belt when it "needed" a longer one and nobody has reported any issues.
Oh okay, so you were "tossing the belt all the time", and you never tried to fix it, it was just a coincidence then that the 145 filled in the slack.

Correct. It was on the list of things to get to. I shouldn't have said tossed it all the time. It would actually squeal on the 1-2 shift all the time and there were a few times I found it half off. It never actually came all the way off. When I say tossed the belt I mean it was moving around or jumping a couple ribs or squeaking on shifts. I should have been more specific.

I had started messing with fixing it by replacing my tensioner pulley with a buick high wall tensioner pulley and that helped it from jumping grooves and being half off. Then once I put the alternator on it stopped all the issues. That occurred because the large case alternator pulley sits out a bit further and pulls down on the tensioner a little which gets the tensioner into a stronger part of the spring and keeps more tension on the belt.

Long story short the alternator made my tensioner tension the belt tighter and that solved the issues squeaks and jumps.

And cliff notes of it all is I have used stock belts with 145 amp alts with 0 issues and so have many other people on LS1tech that are in my alternator thread. Not sure why guys here are having so much trouble doing it on the trucks, mine was 100% perfect when I reused the short belt on my truck. Again it went 111k miles without a single belt hiccup. Didn't kill any pumps or bearings etc. Never squealed or squeaked. Never a charging issue except one alternator failure. But the belt had nothing to do with the alternator just quitting working.

However if I am telling someone how to do this I will recommend the proper belt that fits the TRUCK accessories thanks. I rev the snot out of my garbage and the only one I have tossed is the Nova.... and it's setup is sketchy bastardized truck accessories minus a pulley.
