Angry Did a little street racing with poor results.

Well the other night i went out and did a little street racing. I raced a friend of a friend with a Nissan SE type R 6-speed. He has the usual bolt ons and N2O. Not exactly sure how much though. Well we raced 4 times wit hthe same results. I totaly kill him off the line all the way to 80mph where i hit 3rd gear. Then he comes flying past me till i get my rpms back up in the 5k range. Then from 100-130 i start to catch back up to him. From what he was saying i think he runs low 13s at 108 in the 1/4. I didnt mind loosing, yea right.

Right now I'm shifting at 6300rpms for my 2-3 shift, but my rpms drop into the high 3k range, and i loose power bad till i get back above 4k. I am going to try to advance the cam 4* to lower the power band some, but will i loose much power doing so?

What I' mean is, right now i thing this cam hits peak HP at @6800-7000rpms. By advancing it to hit my peak at around 6300-6500rpms will i loose much if any power?

BTW, yes the Nissan was a 4 banger with a full interior, and a small sub box.

I do have to give it to the guy though, when he passed me at 80mph, he cought a 4th gear scratch!

You need a stall converter to keep those rpms up on the shifts. I have a TCI 3800 you could get.

3800 sounds like what i need. My B-day is next month, so thats what i'm telling the wife i want. What are you asking? Does it keep the lockup?

Aside from the stall i need to get comp 918's so i can rev it to 7k and see what she's got. Right now i'm still on the stockers. lol

I have no clue, never installed it.

You really have to drive in a high stalled vehicle to decide if it's streetable or not.

I had a 3800 stall in my old Camaro and it was streetable to me but, I don't think I could have dealt with much bigger on daily basis.

The lower(numerically) the gear the less loose the converter will feel.

Doh! that is a typo. The higher numerically the less loose the converter will feel.

I would hit my go-go switch, but $80 to fill a 10lb bottle is rediculase. Not to mention the fact a full bottle only lasts me about 6 runs.
