Default cooling fans.

My truck has suddenly decided to give me some grief the past 2 weeks now with it all buttoned back up and running again I'm looking into the posibility of installing electric fans.

It's the 03 Silverado 5.3, 4l60 x-cab 4x4 Z-71 with the tow package & a 3.73rear.

Needless to say one of the issues is the cooling fan clutch. It's fubared constantly stuck in the "on" position another words constantly spinning and driving me nuts.

Who where and what to I need to get the correct fans for my truck.

I do tow from time to time with it. From small trailers up to the car trailer earlier this summer to get a project car home for one of my buddies thats been away overseas protecting us all in the Marine Corps. That trip was a long one from NC to upstate NY with a Fairlane on a UHaul trailer.

Suggestions would be awesome

Thanks

There are many threads on this subject. I found my 34" radiator and cooling fans with the stock harness at a junk yard for 150$. Bolted right up and runs as cool as I want it to.

When your talking 34" radiator are you measuring from the bottom of the unit to the top or from bottom corner diagonally to the top corner?

Was there a retune of the computer once you had it all in?

Straight across the core. The one you have now is 28"

You need a retune for the computer to control the fans...or you could do it manually if you wanted.

Pull the harness out of an E-fan equipped truck/SUV this is hands down the most reliable. GM uses quality relays and the contacts are also diode suppressed for longer life, something you definitely want for a cooling system. Switching inductive loads is super hard on the contacts if you don't have diode suppression.

I don't fancy these cheesy harnesses people are building with the cheap *** bosch style 30A relays.

The oem relays and fuse block all sit very nicely in the fuse box, just pull the cover and put them in the back. Makes it look like stock. There is even the 2 pin plug to interface to the PCM for high/low speed.

I have yet to read a thread where someone with an 05+ is having e-fan issues yet there is 1 or 2 a day where someone is having problems with brand X's harness.

Thats why i build my own harnesses..

i use the 34" rad and 2005 Efans, they work great! Cant ask for more.
PCM controls them and i have manual overrides in the cab.
