compression test with engine out

Default compression test with engine out

is there any way to accurately test the compression with the engine out of the vehicle? i tried turning it over by hand and got an alarmingly low 30 psi which made me think i **** performing the test right.

Do a leak down test it better for test a engine for problem anyways.

Slap a starter on it and either hot wire the starter or use one of the hand held triggers.
