Default buying off ebay

I'm in college so money is tight. I know ebay is the cheapest route to go, but I'm a little worried about buying anything from there. I need some feedback here on good/bad experiences and what to look out for. As always any and all replies are appreciated.

I have not had much problem buying things from ebay. Just be sure to read discriptions carefully and pay attention to feedback ratings. Always ask questions for clarification if it is needed. Also be patient and do lots of research there are a lot of things that look like a good deal, but you may be able to find better prices. Hope this helps.

I've had one bad experience but it was not a big deal because I only lost $7 on the deal. I would keep a close eye on feedback and ask as many detailed questions about the item if the seller has no or some negative feedback. Always use your head, and if something looks to good to be true, it probably is.

Never pay for anything with Western Union!!! It is too easy to scam using them.

Only use PayPal and when you pay, and put details in the empty box when paying for clarification reasons, like if the item is used and in good condition or not, just in case it isn't what you expected. And save a copy of the html listing and any replies from the seller. Just in case you make a claim through PayPal you will have all the info you need cause the pages are not saved through eBay for too long after the sale.

I have made 50+ purchases using eBay and never had any issues at all. Remember too that shipping for some people will take up to two weeks, that is the avg for eBay, don't rush it. And make contact with the seller a couple times before you try to make a claim if something is wrong.

Good luck and be patient, I was looking for a 6.0L for almost a year before I got one on eBay for $599!!

Patience pays.

I bought and sold on eBay for over 3 years. Pay attention to feedback and the item description. Don't assume anything. Ask quetions. Ship time is dependent on the seller. I ship fast. I couldn't image waiting 2 weeks on something to get to me. Also watch out for bidders/sellers with low feedback. Always ask many questions to make sure you get all the details.

I have 107 feedback all positive (vortecpwr) on e-bay buying and selling. when I sell I usually ship priority mail. Be patient and use the search wisely. Always ask questions. Make sure when you look at the pics that it is of actual item. Several use generic pics and it is not what you are buying. I have bought several items for cheap on e-bay (mispelled) and sold for a major profit and sold for a loss (I hate it when plans change). I do know a couple of people I work with that has been scammed big time (couple $1,000) on there. If you ask a question and get immediate response than you will probably be alright. Always check their feedback and see what they sell. I hope this helps.

Sorry for being so long.

yes feedback is key , i only use paypal when i sell or buy, and like mentioned check pics and read the description carfully. also if shipping isnt listed make sure to ask, ive had sellers try to pull some outrageous shipping on me, i also had someone who bought some 22' tires and didnt want to pay the shippign on them when it was close to 200 dollars.

Just kind of use common since along with what everyone else has said. I've bought and sold on ebay since pretty close to when they started i think. I've almost been ripped of twice by people trying to buy stuff. They both sent me an email after they used the buy it now and to send me a cashiers check for a huge amount of money (price of the item and then the rest for shipping) and then they wanted me to send the rest to an account over seas One guy bought a 4wheeler from me for 2800 and sent me a cashiers check for 6k and sent me an email on what to do with the rest of the money (send it over seas) I've never been ripped off buying though. Just make sure you read everything over real good and you should be ok
