Ok so the truck is a 00"silvy scsb. Has a lil over 50k miles on it.
Not sure if i need to adjust the parking brakes or what or if that is even the problem.
Basically at low speeds like 15-20ish i can hear what sounds like the brakes slightly touching at times. Not the high pitched metal thing that tells you you need new brakes kinda touch but like they are rubbing a bit or something.

Also when i'm at a complete stop and let off the brakes they kinda clunk as they release? Whats making it do that? Any ideas?
Do i just need to pony up and grab some new pads/drilled rotors for it?
Not sure whats goin on with it but it's bothersome.

 

From the sounds of it you need pads asap. I had that happen, lets just say that in the end it cost me $700 to fix it all. But just get some new pads and you should be fine.

You might want to take a look at your ebrake shoes also, the earlier model NBS had a problem with the ebrake shoe retaining clip breaking, causing the shoe to shift and rub on the inner "drum" part of the rotor. The clip has been redesigned. This happened to my truck a few years ago...I would hear a light scraping at low speeds. My ebrake went pretty much to the floor, but still held.

 

But this truck doesn't have drums in the back? Or am i misunderstanding what your saying?

 

Yep, the brakes that stop the truck are disc, but the e-brake set-up is actually a horseshoe shaped shoe. Looking at the rotor with the wheel off, you'll notice that there's a couple inches from where the wheel mounts to the hub to where the disc surface is...it's kind of like a bowl shape. That's the internal ebrake "drum" that I mentioned. If you remove the brake rotor, you'll see the e-brake set-up. Basically, the vehicle's brake system with discs and calipers is independent from the e-brake system.

 

pull the rear pins on your brake calipers. For some reason I've seen the rear slide pins go near dry on a couple silverados now. That will keep your pad from adjusting and possibly resting on the disc when you have it released.

 

The clunk noise you are hearing could be the prop shaft slip-yoke splines being
dryed out there is a special lube to lube the yoke after removal of the prop shaft
it looks like peanut butter (GM P/N 12345879)
