Talking bought a HEMI

i bought a 4 banger 89 toyota pickup for $400 with a blown engine. i rebuilt the engine and bought a new head. the 22re came with a HEMI head .

anyways the guy where they rebuilt the engine told me not to go with synthetic. he told me to go with regular oil...castrol. i need like 30 miles to finish breaking it in (500 miles) and change the oil. why do u guys think he told me not to go with synthetic?
ive used 10w30 mobil 1 ever since the 1st oil change on the silverado. i wanted to do the same with the toyota.

a few years ago, i built a full race 350 bored .030 over. the books and manuals i was reading at the time all suggested doing the break in with conventional oil before switching to syn oil. none of them ever gave a reason as to why. but then they all suggested switching to syn oil. so i am not sure what this guys reasonings are.

The only reason I can think of is he tells people not to use synthetic at all because some people don't listen and will put it in for break in. Its not that big of a deal but on the vette we would break in the motors w/ 20 50 castrol dino oil then switch to amsoil.

It's funny, LOTS of engines have a hemispherical head, just nobody hypes it like dodge.

They can't hype it. Dodge owns the rights to "HEMI" so how would you successfully market having a hemi if you couldn't use the word? No one is going to care about a "hemispherical combustion chamber" when you say it like that.
Not being snotty thats just my take on it. The thought had crossed my mind a few times before.
