Default Blazer not running...what could it be???

I have a 91 S10 Blazer, 4.3, 4x4, and I was driving the other night, i hit the brakes for a light, and it stalled. It would not start. It just ticked. I thought it was a starter, but when we tried to jump it, it sounded like it almost wanted to start. I tried putting in my camaro battery, and it did the same thing, almost, but not quite there. What do you guys think it is? Thanks in advance, Matthew

Does it turn over fine and not start OR just clicks when you try to start? If it turns over, check the fuel pressure and spark. These are known to have intermittent fuel pumps. If it just clicks and your sure the battery has 12 volts and the cables are good, then i would sa starter. Also check alternator amperage output if you get it running. Good luck

does it have the computer in the distributer? also check the dis. cap and make sure it is bolted all the way down, i had a 85 s-10 and i had it tuned up and they left the dis. cap loose and thats is what happened to mine.

None of them have a computer in the distributor. There is a pickup coil in there, but those do not fail very often. Although if you find it does not have spark, as V8 said, the cap and rotor are a quick check.

it doesn't turn over all the way, but you can tell it is almost there...when it is on a jump or my camaro battery, it almost wants to turn over...i know the camaro battery is different, but could it just be the battery?...i was thinking the alternator or the battery

as stated by ls1 nova the coil pickup gadget thing can and will not let it start, you may have a bad coil on the starter that may not let you start up sorry just trying to give you some options not much help lol, the batts dont matter unless it has less cranking amps.

if the cables look good, with no corrosion anywhere and you are sure it has a good ground, I would guess its going to be the starter.

Oh yeah, one other thing, how many miles on the engine? If it has bearing problems in the bottom end, it wont matter how good the battery and starter are. You should try to get a breaker bar on the 5/8 bolt on the end of the crank. I should turn over without staining yourself.
