Big thanks to all the truck guys!!

Just wanted to thank the guys that made for a great turnout at the Thunder Shootout. You guys were the second biggest class there. I know their were a few complainers in some of the other classes about running behind the trucks and I'm sorry for that. My wife Jessica, who was running the front of staging, called me over the radio and told me about the problems. I'm sure she worded my response a little nicer then I did but it was basically that they didn't have to race behind anyone if they didn't want to and they were more then welcome to put their cars back on the trailer if they didn't want to play anymore.
I talked to a few guys Saturday night about the class but I'm not sure how everyone liked it. We were trying to give you guys something different then your everyday bracket racing. I know Tony thought it was lame but since he didn't even race his opinion doesn't count to me.
If you guys didn't like it we can just go back to bracket style next year. I raced that type of class in the NMCA and I thought it was pretty cool. Anyway thanks again to everyone who raced and I look forward to this class growing for next year.

Paul,
First I just wanted to thank you and Thunder Racing for even having a Truck only class. I'll still be there next year. Personally, I would liked to have had it more of a bracket style. I think the competition would have been a little more competetive ( and I might have had a better chance LOL). That was also my first time running a pro tree. That killed me when I moved to the bracket class. The slower trucks like mine had terrible rollout on that tree. ALL in all, I would still be back even if nothing changed. You guys went out on a limb for us, and had our back, so I think we would all come back. Not to mention, that we should get more respect next time by having a few more trucks in 11's, 12's, and 13's. Oh! and I'll be on slicks!
Great meeting you and Jessica (She took good care of us in the lanes, we really like all the track time she gave us.)

Thanks Paul,
I had a great time.It was my first time at a pro tree also, but I liked the heads up racing that you got when the index was the same, either way is OK with me.
I will be back next year, and hopefully we will get a lot more participants. If we double the number of truck, you won't be paying out more than draw and there will be enough trucks in each index to have several heads up races, it makes it more exciting for the spectators.
Don't a lot of bracket cars run radial tires?I didn't hear complaints about them.
I have never had as much fun or met nicer people at a drag race than the event you put on.I hope next year will be even better...Hard act to follow though, perfect weather. Thanks again,Jim

We plan on having a truck-only bracket class, and an open bracket class at the Spring Break event.
Paul is correct, I think staggered indexes are kinda odd if the classes aren't filled. Its like bracket racing but you have to gut your truck out or weigh it down to be competitive. True index racing means you start at the same time IMHO.

I want to extend a hand to the entire Thunder crew as well. All of you were super helpfull and supportive in finding me a carrier to fix my rearend after it busted sat.
As for the handicap index.. It was definately different from anything I have participated in. My truck was running perfect for it on sat seeing that I was #1 qulifier but for some reason my truck just didnt pull it off on the first pass in elems and was actually my slowest pass of the weekend. (gonna chalk it up to tight bearings)
I do think that a regular bracket would have made it more competitive since that is what most of us are used to. It was also my first time with a pro tree which took some getting used to. All in all I had a great time and will be back next year regardless.

my thanks and appreciation goes out to all at Thunder. I had fun, I ran my truck a lot. I met great great great people. Everyone has already said what i was gonna say. Although, it was fun taking unnecessary stuff out of my truck to see what it would run. It just wasn't fun putting it back in. I'll be there next year with a (hopeful) 13 sec ext cab.
