Default auto on head light sensor

My little girl pushed it into the hole. I managed to get the wires out of the hole, but I unpluged it to try and get out the sensor. By now you must know where this is going. I lost the sensor in the dash. The million$ question is does the sensor screw in from the top, and how much?

Screws in from the bottom and is a pain in the *** to get to. Don't know price, could probably get one from a junkyard for cheap.

this exact thing happened to me when i bought my truck. when i bought it the sensor was already pushed down. in my attempt to pull it back up i unclipped the wires, then proceeded to lose the sensor in the dash. you have two options: pull the dash or buy a new one. i bought a new one. i think it cost me about $30 at the dealer.

How do you get it from the bottom?

to install it? you have to take the dash off. hah. it sucks. when i bought my new one i just hooked the wires up and left the sensor sitting above the dash a little. no big deal.

I was able to get to mine in my '99 by taking the radio out and contorting my hand just right to reach the hole. If you have really big hands, don't even try doing it this way. If I were you, I'd just pull the dash since you probably want to find the original sensor anyway.

dual zone a/c complicates reaching it even further, but it looks like it may be possible, good luck!

I had all ready tried pulling the radio, IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. How do you get the dash off? Not that I want to, but I keep leaving the brights on (ALL 8) and people don't like it much. I just can't seem to remember to shut the lights off.

I bypassed mine...I put 1kohm resistors in place of each sensor, and just tucked them under the dash. Oddly enough, one time out of about 25, the lights will come on when I start the truck...and then go off about 1 minute later. But the other 99% of the time, they never come on until i switch them on.
