You can always rent a tile cutter from Home Depot.

I was told by a pro to use a 4" angle grinder with a handy supply of cutting wheels.

What type of tile? Assuming ceramic. Use a wetsaw. I would avoid buying a saw unless your going to be doing this often. You will also want to buy the diagonal cutter to trim pieces around things which are not square.

550 square feet is a lot for a beginner to do in one day unless it is a perfectly flat smooth surface. Renting a saw may cost 40-50 per day. If i were you and were on a budget, I would lay your field one day and measure and mark all of the outside cuts. The next day rent the saw and make your cuts in 1/2 day and save some money.

Don't use premixed acrylic based mortar if its going outside. Use cement based mortar. Mix only half a 5 gallon buck it at a time if it is hot outside. Porbably want to use a 1/4 to 3/8 square notch trowel. Buy at least 3 buckets to clean the drill mixer bit, water, and your mix.

I just finished helping my dad lay tile, I highly recommend the MK101 Pro. It cuts the tile easy, and dosent peter out when cutting thick 20" tiles.
