there seems to be some ignorance for the competition over here boys. stock Ls will run 13.9-14.0 with an average driver pulling 2.2 60'. i personaly have driven a stock L 3 days old to a 13.8 and i had not ever launched one. but add a pulley, nittos, air filter, and tune and they run 12.90s all day. these are cheap mods as well. i consider that damn good for a 4900 lbs raceweight truck. lets not forget that the only 12.90 and faster trucks out there are in teh GM cam weigh less, have blowers on high compression (realitive) motors, and probably have bigger stall convertors or bigger cams making them more street unfriendly. also getting an L into low 12s high 11s is easy with tires and a small nitrous shot. a GM motor with a blower will NOT last 100,000 miles easily like a Lightning because of their built bottom ends. lets not talk about their bulletproof rearends (9.5") and diesel strength trannys. come on guys, lets get real. i am a huge fan of GM trucks, but they cant touch the Ls when it comes to this race. how many GM LSx derived combos we have running 10s again?

if you are gonna rag on the competition and try to beat them, atleast know their stats and their capabilities.

this one seems to go alright. 10.50 @ 130 mph - JDM, Johnny Lightning, and PSP all have 10 second rides.

A ton of Lightnings are supposed to be here at RMS in April on the dyno. You wanna see some crazy numbers..you'll see them. That's only if the owners want use to post them. Supposed to be some pretty crazy trucks comin in.

Your basically talking apples to oranges with the Lightning and GM trucks. I think if you want to compete with the Lightning guys then the best thing to do is get a heads/cam 6.0L(or stroked) and throw a SC or some N20 on it.

do a few searches on f150online. The average stock ET is around 13.5 and goes all the way down to a freak 13.1 I believe. The 99-00's were averaging around 14

I have to agree with some of these guys. My friend has one, and I would have gotten one if the insurance wasn't so high. When I drove it, to be honest I loved it, and I have had plenty of Fords, and they for the most part were all pieces of crap, but I still wanted a Lightning. They are very, very beefy built. Really strong block, cheap upgrades. It would cost at least $5000 bucks to get an SS to compete stock for stock(don't rag me on that number) I will have over $10,000 in mods done to my truck to stomp the lightning, and over $45000 invested total, which is a lot more expensive than if I would have gotten a L and put the Whipple larger charger replacement with a pulley, and some nice 20" rims and a 3/5 lowering, like my friends. He has $6000 total in his, and runs 13.2 out here in Vegas, which is an easy 12 second truck in Cali, and it out handles my GM with a nicer ride! And I even like the look of his truck too.

I will be happier with my truck when I am done, but man a lot of work and effort.

Not the 99 and 00.

True, but one can't assume they are a 99 or 00. I don't see enough of them to be able to tell the difference.

When you said "It's probably a high elevation track" You were refering to the ones in the posted picture. Those in the pic are 99 or 00 becuase the issue of Trucking mag is March of 2000. On the street I can tell the difference bacause the 01+ have the clear rear tail lights.

For some reason Lightnings really don't run very well in Phoenix or in Las Vegas... Stock 99-01 Lightnings run about 14.5, 02+'s run about 14.0 at LVMS. For a comparison a stock SS runs about 15.8-16.0 here.

The altitude and dry weather really beats them down... N2O works so much better out here.
