Question Aftermarket Radio Head Unit Question

Is there a XM/ CD player head unit that is the same size as the original unit that utilizes the steering wheel controls???
I really like the new Pioneer unit that has the GPS map screen.
I don't want a small regular size type head unit.
What will work??

I think the double-din Eclipse actually has a connction for that function... Or else you just have to get an add-on type deal that will replicate the IR fucntions of a remote. Which will work with any DDIN as far as I know. I think thats how they work. My nod doesnt go to Pio though..........................

I don't mean to hijack... but in case 6000VHO has a din.5, are there any aftermarket options? I used to have a pioneer din.5 in my Sten, but I didn't like it. If there were a way to get a double din in, I would have a big ear-to-ear... Can the dash bezels be switched out to allow for a double, or do I need to do some trimming?

I know people have put double-dins in 99-02s. I dont know exactly how they do it, I think I remember reading the climate controls need to be moved down a little bit. I'd search on gmfullsize.com

Pioneer has the correct size units using the same models.
Here is a link that shows you under Vehicle fitment. This is for a Cadillac, but it's the same thing.
Here's a photo: Just select Cadillac and you will see. It's basically a 1-1/2 den

Also, you will lose the voiceing On-star prompts and you will lose your factory installed XM radio antenna use. They haven't got back to me on the steering wheel controls yet.

A PAC-Audio SWI-X will take care of the steering wheels controls.

SWI-X is a PAC product that interfaces with the factory steering wheel controls, and then provide an IR output for decks that support IR remotes.
