Default Active Fuel Management (DOD) question

When the truck goes to 4 cylinders, is it always the same 4 that stays on and the same 4 that shuts down? If it is always the same 4 that stays on, wouldn't that cause those injectors, coils, plugs, wires to marginally wear faster?

Always the same four. According to GM they have millions of miles testing the AFM operation and have found no increased wear on any of the cylinders.

its always the same cyls. The filter moves inside the pushrod along the cam so the valve never opens. Only 4 of 8 cyls have these lifters that do that, they are always the ones that shut down

I didn't say that. I just said according to GM they have millions of road miles using this technology and found no issues. GM had the 4-6-8 way back when and even though it didn't work very well I don't think there were any wear related issues.

I didn't figure you were. I was just joking back by stating I wasn't totally drinking the Kool-Aid.
