Default AC doesn't blow cold anymore.

I did a search and came up with a lot of stuff about AC and E-fans. But, I was driving from Fresno to Chico at freeway speeds and I had the AC on full blast and it was cool not cold. It used to be too cold to turn blast now its only cool.

I have 50K mills on it now. Do I need to recharge already?

Hey.. at least yours is cool.. I have a rather large hole in my a/c condenser

You might wanna buy one of those little recharge thingys with the gauge.. its like 25 bucks or so. It shouldnt be time to recharge it already tho.

Thats what I might do.. . .

Do these AC units have a "sight bubble" so you can check your freon level like the older ones?

im not quite sure what you mean.. but u can check the level with the gauge connected with the ac full blast.. when the ac clutch is ingaged the level will be shown on the gauge.. i think 40 psi is where you should be.. not sure tho.

Try cleaning your condenser out. Have you checked to see if the reciever/dryer on the firewall is frozen up right when the A/C doesnt blow cold??

I also need help on this mine blows cold at highway speeds but upon coming to a stop it will turn hot then back to cold. How do you check the dryer? Also my fan runs by switch so no problem there. You really need gauges to check high and low sides. Anyone know if the pcm controls the ac as in maybe something in the tune turning it on at a certain rpm or something?

Yes it does. I have mine set to turn off over 4k rpms. Someone told me one time that compressor life can be shortened by a lot of WOT runs. So, I thought best to turn it off at the higher rpms.

I know the compressor turns itself off at higher rpm's or 100% throttle ,but what about low rpm's? Maybe a switch that turns it on?
