Default 4.3L a bad motor?

I am looking at buying a used pickup, it's mint on the outside, but has a rebuilt 4.3L V6, the body has 180k on it, the motor has 85k on it which means it's coming up on it's anneversary of the rebuild point making me nervous about how much longer it will last!

I like the idea of owning a pickup for practical purposes, but I'm looking for a RELIABLE motor/vehicle.

Thoughts?
Opinions?
Expeirences?

It's a 1997 Chevy Silverado flaresize(yuck) Z71

THANKS!

ive seen plenty of 200+k 4.3`s in the obs trucks. they may have ran like **** and burnt oil but they were still going. z71 with a 4.3 probably be lucky to get out of its own way.

Z-71 with the 4.3 isn't too bad with 4.10 gears.

It is a 350 minus 2 cyclinders. Mine went 180k no problems except accessories. I have seen a 93 vortec 4.3 go 300k, a little extreme. I think they all should be good for at least 200k.

Not much power, but good torque. Gas mileage poor for a V-6.

My uncles went over 300K in an s10. He put a new camshaft in once, that was it. It didn't even leak.

Ive seen quite a few 4.3L motors go well over 250-300K. I had one in my first truck it is wasnt all that bad, just slow.
