Default 2003 silverado 5.3 = 0 oil pressure (HELP)

Everything runs fine.. it was a 1/2 quart low on oil (topped it off). The needle will move when the key is off going to the on position but won't move when the truck runs... no knocking, clattering, or smoking either.. it has116k on it... where should I start? at one point nothing was reading on the cluster but i unplugged the battery and everything worked again besides the oil pressure.. any advise would be greatly appreciated..

Try an oil pressure sending unit first. I've seen a few of these go out. I don't think the're very expesnive but the're a bit of a pain to change. It's located behind the intake manifold at the back of the engine.

If it's not the sending unit,It might be A stuck oil pressure relief valve.

yeah they are less than 40 bucks... but that wouldnt make all the gauges **** off at one point would it? Im kinda a noob to newer vehicles (obd1 ftw!!).. you wouldnt think it would be the cluster would ya??

There are a lot of problems with the clusters on our trucks. You have other gauges acting up too? When the cluster is going out it usually starts with the speedo at least that has been my experience. If it's a cluster you might be able to get the dealer to fix it. I hear there is a class action law suit with the clusters on some year models.

I'm not sure, maybe someone else on here would know. Sometimes if a car has a problem like this they extend the milage. I've got a friend that got something in the mail about it. He's having problems with his cluster and was going to see if he can get his replaced. If i hear anything i'll let you know.

i think the mileage cut off is 70K or 80K on the 03-04 clusters. ive got a stock one that the speedo messed up but the oil pressure and everything else works that your welcome to if you need to use it to see if its the gauges or not. it doesnt have the bezel and clear part on the front anymore but it would still work for you.

From what I remember GM extended the warranty on the 03-04 clusters to 70K since they were having so many failures with them.
