Default 2000 Silverado Cab Airfilter

I've got a 2000 Silverado regular cab. I'm a smoker and need to change the cab airfilter. Does anyone know where and how to access the filter? Is it a big deal to change? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Underneath the passenger dash is a long thin cover held with a 5mm (or 6mm) bolt. Take it off, slide out the filters.

You got the Lexus model?

Just kidding, I dont think you have a filter (for cabin air) to change, only the mucky mucks have that! AFAIK

That sounds painless. I wish the $60 filter was less painless. Thanks.

On mine I had to remove the big plastic AC cover then like SnakeOiler said there is a thin plastic cover held on with a screw. I had to get a shop light under there to see everything. There is actually two filters in there...one pulls strait out and then the other one slides over and then out. Hope this makes sence.

The filter should not have cost you more than $22. GM list is only $32. You either got the wrong filters or you have been had. GM p/n is 52485513 - AC Delco CF104

Yes, on the LS models, you first have to remove the underside cover.

Edit: Looks like maybe the 2000 models didn't have them. I had a 2000, so I just looked over my expense report for it and I do not see that I ever bought any for it (then again, maybe I just forgot to do it). I have replaced them in my 2002 4 times so far.

Thanks to both RedLSIRado and SnakeOiler. I'll be buying the filters tomorrow---looking for $32 or LESS. (The original $60 quote was by phone from a nearby Chevy dealer).
