Default 1999 4.3 to 6.0 motor swap

I have a 1999 silverado w/ a 4.3. I am wanting to put in a 6.0. The trucks about paid for and really like it so don't wanna sell to get 5.3. I know the 4l60e matches the 6.0 but is it a dirrect fit, because i heard the flex plate may interfer w/ the converter. If I buy one w/ the ECU and wiring harness is it going to be a huge project? I've helped pull early 90 model 350's. Any comparison? Any help or ideas for build is appreciated.

I am a newb here as well and from what I have read the 4l60e is not that strong and wont hold up to a 6.0 with mods.

more is needed than just a pullout swap.

fuel lines are different, motor mounts, radiator; and the 60e definitely won't hold up.

it's a pain in the *** goin v8 from v6...

thanks for the info. I realized how much work i was getin into and changed the plan. I was on youtube and found a guy that put a 5.7 vortec in his 04 silverado because it's the exact motor but add two cylinders. From what i saw he used the 4.3 wiring harness only change was to the injectors; he had to cut and splice v8 to v6 harness. After the install he kept throwing codes and had to change the tuned v6 computer to better match the v8.

Tranny is direct fit and if i find a turn key motor i think it may work, haven't had time to research alot. the vortec 350 was from 96-02 from my understanding, so wiring harness should match fine.

Any thoughts on this idea??????

i wouldn't recommend that for 2 reasons.

The gen3 engines are so much more efficient/powerful/mod friendly, and I dunno about the smog laws in your area but here in CA the engine has to be model year or newer.

Thanks for the tips.. My county here in TN isn't strict with that but surrounding counties are. I'm not real familiar w/ the vortec 350, but the older ones aren't to impressive to me. I was beatin one w/ my 4.3 all day long. Granted his was ext cab 4x4 5 spd but still....lol Anyway I'm talkin to a guy that has done the v6 to lq9 swap and he said its not as hard as you'd think. He did blow th 4l60 and replaced it w/ a built one. Still holdin up and he saws he's puttin out 450+ rwhp.
