Outlawz, what size tire were you running? You say that the rim was a 16", but were you running a short tire? A 4.8L can be alot of fun, but needs more gear and converter than a 5.3L to run the number.

Yes, a very short tire. LOL. It was stock aluminum 16" wheels with some 255/50/16s(around 26"). They are pretty wide and hook up pretty good with the little bit of power the 4.8 is making. I ran on the same wheels with some 235/70/16s and ran a 15.3.-15.4 but they would spin being so skinny. I know this truck has a high 14 in it as is, a little weight reduction and a good launch and it should be there easily.

Go get a dyno. My truck with the exact same setup as yours, about 5 months ago, ran a 15.3 @ 93 mph. But I sprayed a 75hp wet shot to get that et and mph. 2.45 60ft and all. What are the head #'s on your truck. Im thnking that you either have a LS6 cam in it, its a 5.3 or a 6.0, you have a g80, and gears. Or the 4.8 you have puts out 300hp to the wheels. Im curious to see a dyno graph, and head #'s. You can improve your et with better traction. But MPH usually comes with more HP.

I posted the video with the time and can post the time slip also. 15.1@90mph. I can assure you its a 4.8L with a stock cam(I bought the truck new), an open diff, and 3.42s. I would love to dyno the thing but have never gotten around to it. Wheatley is my tuner, if you dont think its a 4.8, maybe he will chime in and confirm it. I will see what heads are on the truck, its the stock ones whatever they are.I bought a cam, but didnt put it in and ended up selling it. I didnt want to mess with that at this time. Thinking of adding nitrous soon. The truck has 117000 miles on it, no tranny cooler, no vette servo, nothing but stock original tranny. Here is the exact setup from that run, K&N intake kit, pacesetter longtube headers with ory pipe, no cats, slp loudmouth I muffler with dual exhaust, cutout, descreened maf sensor, wheatley dual tune 89/93 running 93 at the track, half tank of gas, stock clutch fan, 20" tahoe wheels on front with 275/45/20 tires, 16" stock wheels on rear with 255/50/16" tires. Thats it. Full interior, two 12s, two amps, custom center console, spare, tailgate, bumpers. I would love for it to be a 5.3, believe me. Planning on the swap soon.I welcome anyone who wants to check out the truck, its located in central louisiana.

It's the short tire that gets him that time guys. It's not complicated. With a short tire I believe that time 100%.

I believe you 100%. I just found it odd that I ran the same 60ft, same mods, same everything as you, only difference was, I had 29'' tires you had 26'' tires, and I sprayed 75 and your et was better and mph was only 2mph less. My 1/8th was 9.7. Im not calling you a liar by any means. I was just making sure you were positive about the internals, and rear end. I know guys running 4.10's and 5.3's with same bolt ons running consistant 15.5-15.6's with better 60ft. If you spray that thing it will be a running sumbitch. Im simply saying I think you have a freak 4.8. And wanted you to dyno, so I could confirm that theory. Thanx, and sorry for any confusion. I would not swap to a 5.3, if your running that well IMO. I think you will go slower.

man, a 26" tire is crazy short! I've got 31.5" with 3.42s I love the 2nd gear highway pull though to 95 and that's the only thing keeping me from swapping to 3.90s/4.10s

Also you have to think about DA when comparing times, my guess is you had a higher DA vff_jeff, giving you a disadvantage
