Default 1500 Diesel release date?

I am done with gas engines!

Anyone who works for a dealer/GM know the release date for the 4.5L diesel engine in the 1/2 tons? I have heard spring of 09 at the earliest!

This will be my next truck! I just don't won't to wait that long. I am sure the price will be over $45k, but it will be my last truck for a while! It takes GM forever to get new stuff to market! Hopefully they won't wait that long but seeing how things have been running it will!

Seeing how its barely in the design stages, and still just on paper, I don't see it any time soon or any release dates being set. A lot of BS for them to go though still, emission, durability test yada, yada. 09 would be the EARLYEST I would look for it.

yeah, I wouldnt expect any earlier than 09, and a dealership is the last place to ask about release dates. They tend to know less about whats going on or coming out than we do.

and even then, there's no way on natural earth I'd buy something like that in its first year or two... just too many problems to get ironed out, I dont care how much durability testing you do.

-I'm glad people havent had major issues out of the new '07 gas trucks and HD's but with this being an all new engine I'm skeptical of its release. and it'll probably get a re-vamped trans behind it. which will also have bugs..... JMHO

500ft lbs of torque... i hope it has a stout trans........ i dont think they would put a 60E junker behind something that wicked....

Evidence suggest that the 6L90E might be the trans behind the diesel.

I wouldn't doubt it one bit that GM has trucks with this powerplant driving around right now doing testing. Keep an eye out for 1500s pulling up to the diesel pump.

Thats what got me wanting one now!

I sure the motors are in testing now and they have them driving! I bet the emissions is holding things up.
Hell just sell me a crate 4.5L and 6l90E and I can do the rest! Lol...
