your probably right heres the listing for the 6l90... but its bolted to a 6.0 by the code youlle see. looks like the stronger 6l90 will fit and work.

The Ly6 Is A 6.0 In The 2500 H.d. So That Means It Should Bolt Up, And For The Most Part Work With A 1500.... I Dont See Why It Wouldnt... Unless Maybe Size Is A Problem...

But Yes You Are Right When I Look Up The 6l80e Is Only Shows With The L92.

The 6l90 and 6l80 have their own controller for the transsmisson separate form the PCM.

Surely for a swap the only thing you would need is the 6l80 with controller, a harness, and reflash the PCM, maybe driveshafts as well. It said to be around the same size as the 4l60. But I think you my need a 58x reluctor wheel for it to work as well.

WTF those are the same HP/TQ values GM gives for the new 4.5L Diesel! Looks like it gets the 6L90E and its going in a 1500 sometime!

BUMP! Anymore info on the 6l80/6l90 tranny in a 1500? I'm considering getting a new VMAX next year around this time and I'd love to hear that GM is gonna be putting the 6speed in the 1500 (besides the denali).
