My understanding is that if any '05 had electric fans it got the 145. My '05 VHO has the E fans and 145a alt.... Those fans pull hard on the electrical system, especially with 2 on high!

I'm running 05efans on a 105amp alt, haven't had any problems yet, I would still recommend a 145 though.

I have an aftermarket 200 amp alt and when the headlights are on and the a/c kicks on i still get dimming, so it is a huge draw on the electrical system, even with an alt as big as mine.

I haven't noticed the lights dimming thing, but, I haven't been looking either, I'll have to check that out.

My radar detector has a voltmeter setting on it too, I usually sit around 14.1-14.2 when the headlights are on, and when the a/c kicks on and the fans come on high it will drop to 13 or so until they come up to speed, then it will come back up to 13.9

would a 145 or 200 amp alternator help with the low voltage experienced at idle when running a crank pulley?

A smaller alternator pulley would do the trick.
