Default 06 Silverado front end clunk sounds terrible.

Every time I hit a bump it sounds terrible like metal on metal. I have checked everything. The only thing i can find is my torsion bar cross member mounts. They actually look freaking terrible lol. I just wanted to post and see who else has had this problem and if a hard metal on metal sound is what they heard.

Check your upper control arm bushings, upper ball joints as well, as far as that Torsion bar member, it looks like its rotating forward, you've got the bolts turned in a fair amount. If you back them off will the key start to level and re-center itself? Your sig says a 6" lift? shouldn't that member be spaced down?

It is very possible the keys are hitting the mount, torsion bars are springs... So there is some flex... Agree on checking ball joints and control arm bushings as well... My 99 with a 6" lift tends to have a leaf spring slap at times hitting bumps.... Think it may have to donwith lack of downward travel thanks to my shocks!!!

I have checked everything up front with pry bar and cant get movement out of anything. Front end is tight. The cross member straightened back out after I backed the bolts all the way out. I have new torsion bar mount bushings coming in today. Ill install and post back. Its a non torsion bar drop 6" lift so there is a bracket on the lower control arm.

Sound FIXED. Overall I don't know if it was the new bushings or me making sure the keys weren't pressed up against the front of the cross member. 2 Jaw puller makes perfect torsion bar tool!
