Yes, it will fit fine but it won't look right. The 2006 hood sticks out a bit further in the front and it will overlap the 2005 grille. If you want the 2006 hood, get a matching 2006 grille for your truck. I'm 95% sure everything will bolt on with no problems. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

it doesn't look that bad. I was able to attain an 06 hood and grille in black for cheap, but I like the 05 grille design more than the 06. Just for the heck of it, I first tried the 06 grille with the 05 hood, but the points at the front of the hood touched the grille and the grille stuck out too far.

Then my wife and I put the 06 hood on with the 05 grille and it even cleared my billet add on. My grille is black with the chrome bar instead of orange (like the rest of my truck) so the black hood compliments the grille. The angle at the top of the grille is a bit different than the hood, but that isn't noticeable from eye level.

I am attaching a picture that I took from below that shows the hood overlap and the difference in angles. Pay no attention to the bugs please

it's been done and should work fine as long as you use the 06 grill also. With that being said I say just buy an aftermarket hood. I'm not a fan of the 06 hoods. If you are then do it. I've got a goodmark ram air hood I had cut out and it looks pretty mean IMO. I'm not a flashy guy so it took some getting use to.
