'05 Sierra Door speakers
So, both of my door speakers don't work 95% of the time, but they will randomly work every now and then. From what I've read, it's a common issue with these trucks and most of the time the speakers are bad.
I don't really have the time or patience to trace wires and look for a short and new speakers are cheap enough that I'm willing to buy a pair and take my chances.
The truck is an '05 2500HD work truck w/out Bose or Onstar. Does anyone have any speakers they recommend?
Not looking for top quality, just a little better than factory and under $100.
Thanks in advance..

Alpine SPS-610 Type S 6-3/4" 2-way car speakers — fits in 6-1/2" or 6-3/4" openings at Crutchfield.com
I use these (or rather an earlier version) and they work well. A little lacking on the bass side but very clean.

Very sure they have developed dry rot - they all do it eventually. Might as well replace all 4 of them. Go to Crutchfield web site, they have tons of speakers for under $100 pair, most are around $60
I would go for the largest that would fit in the door, which I think is a 6.5 or 6.75. The B-Pillar speakers will be 4x6. Unfortunately, aftermarket speakers aren't always just a drop in speaker, so just be aware when it gets around to installing them
Alpine, Infinity, JBL, etc. just about all of them are good speakers, but each one has it's own distinct sound.
I put Polk Audio's in mine about 2 years ago, they sound great.

Go to crutchfield.com and enter your vehicle and look at the speakers that will fit your front door. Find the model number, get on amazon and get em cheaper. As far as which brand to get, get what's in your price range that you have heard of.

I have a set of infinity 6.5 in my doors and they sound awesome, i paid right at $60 for the pair. I also have a pair of pioneer 4x6 and a pair of 5.25 in my rear doors, the 5.25s i took a shelf from an old bookcase and made a custom mount for the driver side and have to do the same to my 3rd door, but the truck sounds clear and has pleny of bass even with my subs turned down or off....

As a side note the speakers may very well be bad but ive also seen the wires break in the rubber harness channel thing between the door and the a pillar where it folds in half everytime the door is closed.... My 02 suburban had sme issue except the driver side speaker just quit working all together.... Was about a 5 minute fix while i had the door apart to install the speaker, unclipped the loom from the door and pulled it back enough to find the 5 broken and chaffed wires and fixed them all while i was in there......
