Should I only worry about the knock sensors if I have a code for them? That seems just like what my truck is doing.
For something advertised as 285 tq. I would think it would be able to spin the tires at least in gravel. With no load, it has to shift into third to pull a slight hill, it's actually pretty sad. 15 sec 0-60 time???? Really????

Also, I had a. 04 Yukon xl with the 5.3. It quit running on my wife wile she was on a trip (400 miles from home) find out the cats were plugs smooth up. They said to replace the manifold gaskets, so I did, but turned out the intake itself had a crack in it. Is that a common problem also, other than the gaskets leaking.
Chevy tech said that the crack "seals up" during idle, but when at WOT the crack opens up and really leans out the motor causing the cats to melt.

Yes the knock sensor codes will make it pull timing.
The crack is not common thing, at least not that I have seen or heard of.

If there's not a code for them then the knocks are working properly. But water intrusion into the well they are installed in is very common. Depends on how you do things. I tend to fix problems before they break so due to age and mileage it's something you will do sooner or later. But if you do not have a mil and knock codes it's not your problem.
Cracks one of those weird ones ive never seen one crack. But I have seen idiots break the towers out of the top the beauty cover secures to and just stick them back and cause all kinds of weird problems.
