On a stock motor you run a 7.4 correct? I have a lq9 that I'm going to mill the heads on. Would I have to mill the heads .50 to run these? Or are these more for aftermarket heads? Sorry I go a little cross eyed reading about lifter preload and etc when picking the right length pushrod

I recommend buying a pushrod length checker and measuring what you need plus the lifter preload you want, anything else and you are just guessing

These will work with any heads. Generally, if your heads aren't milled and you install an aftermarket cam, 7.400" is right in the ballpark. If you mill your heads around .030"-.040" and run a .041" head gasket, these MIGHT be the right PR's for you.

I'll gladly sell them to you but Atomic is right. You really need to buy a $20 Comp Cams PR checker to be sure AFTER you get your heads milled. I have also tried this method before from Shane (XtraCajunSS) of Thunder Racing. Rounded to the closest off the shelf PR, it gave me the same results as my PR checker:

Put a stock 7.400 pushrod in and get the lifter on the base circle of the cam. I use the EO/IC method (exhaust opening/intake closing.) Tighten the rocker down until you are at zero lash (all slack in the rocker is gone but the pushrod still spins freely.) Set your torque wrench to 22 lb./ft. and count the number of turns it takes to achieve full torque. You are looking for between 1 and 1 1/2 turns. 1 full turn is ~.047" so if you get 3/4 of a turn you need a .025" longer pushrod to get in range. If you get 2 turns, you'd need at least .025" shorter to get in range. These specs are with stock type lifters.

The motor is at the machine shop as I wanted to have everything checked out before I dropped it in my wife's truck. I just ordered the springs and have the cam. I guess after they do whatever to the heads I will know for sure what length push rods to get.
