In my opinion they are all about the same, you probably wont feel much of a change the only difference I noticed with my gibsons was the higher rpm's.And it was minimal.

NONE OF THEM!

The factory manifolds are verly close to the shorties in design. You may see 5rwhp out of shorties but that would be at the very top of the rpm range. Save your money and go mid/long tube. 20+rwhp/20+rwtq for them.

Default Your Opinions On The Best Shorty Header

Come on guys let me know what you think (or have heard) about shorty headers for the 4.8L, 5.3L, etc. Don't want to hear about the long tube or mid-length (already read a bunch about them).

I hear Gibson makes a damn nice header. Also, a lot of people like JBA's. What about Borla, Hedman, Bassani, and Edelbrock headers?

I'm interested in finding out the specs on the Hedman shorty headers. I priced them through a few places on the net and nobody listed the specs (hmm, interesting). They ran from the high $200's to mid to high $300 (depending on who was selling them).

i had jba ceramic coated shorties on my silverado...
they were pretty nice....i really didnt feel much of a butt-meter increase though, but those i think are probably the most expensive shorties out there.

the jba, gibson, and edelbrock headers are all the same, same specs on all three of them...i havn't looked at any of the others but those three are exact duplicates and no one makes more power than the other.

I bought the Gibson shorties because they sold them to me directly from the factory at their price. I wouldn't have bought them unless they were stainless. If you buy a set you should send them to Jet Hot first because they develop some surface rust. They're easy to install unlike the long tubes which require cutting and welding, but you won't see the same performace gains as you do with the long tubes. The ASP pulley will give you a better gain for less money.
