Anyone have a noisy fuel pump on a 5.3??
#1
Just bought a used 01 GMC Sierra with 6000 miles on it. The fuel pump is making a lot of racket...whining. Anyway, it's going in the shop in a week to get looked at...just wondering if anyone else has had this problem...if it's common. Thanks!!

Oh man, sometimes mine screams, sometimes you don't hear it at all. I understand this is pretty normal. I don't worry about it. I have never heard of this leading to failure or lower pressure. Has anyone else?

BTW, mine is a Z71, so I'm starting to feel a little better about this. Thanks for the inputs guys!!

That is exactly how mine acts too.

Just wanted to let you guys know that the Z71 is getting the pump replaced under warranty. It got worse over the last week, so I finally took it in.

Becareful...GM pumps only take a few extemed moments of cavitation to destroy the pumps. A few trips too many past the "E" and your going to be replacing one.

I'll probably win the most loudest fuel pump award. I'd get it replaced, but, warranty is long gone. Out of curiousity I asked the dealership on the pricing to get it replaced, I won't even say the quoted price........It ofcourse, like all others, grew louder over time........now its ridiculous.
Not sure what i am going to do yet........
