Default For you guys with magnaflow cats

When you put your cats on, did it make your exhaust louder?

I put 2 3" ones on my truck since I didnt have any before and I thought it would quiet it down some, but it actually made it louder and made it drone at 2k which is extremely annoying. Im running a 40" magnaflow, so I have plenty of muffler, so droning is not what I was expecting.

I am thinking about having them cut off and just a pipe welded in their place since we dont have emission testing here.

Any thoughts?

no emission testing....but do you have visual inspections each year? If you don't then i'd say get rid of them

Several years ago I swapped from the stockers to magnaflow cats. It didn't sound different or anything. Live and learn i suppose.

I'm having a hard time believing that putting cats on it made it louder.

Yeah mee too. maybe it just changed the tone of it and you percieve it as louder.

Probably turned a nice raspy sound into a annoying drone. I know my magnaflow drones @2k with just a cat back stock manifolds and Y

Louder, probably not, but drone more, definitely.

Its the last thing I expected but its what happened...
