My dad bought a new S-10 yesterday ($4500 rebate
) the dealership had 3 new Silverado SSs. They may not have gotten as much power as I would have liked but they sure do look nice. Did not care for the Black, the Bule color (Electron?) looked nice, and red looked killer. But the sticker was $41,000 without the bump

I really didn't like them when I saw them in a magazine but I saw my first one at the dealer and it did look nice. It's funny how we choose colors, I don't care for the red or blue, but the black one I saw looked sweet.

$41,000.oo; I can make mine look better and be faster for less.
The smart things GM does:
468 Cadillac
Crossfire Corvette, the slowest vet EVER.
Killed the Grand National after its best selling year
The F-Body, need I say more.

Black is definately the best looking one.
So what if you can make a faster car for less money, i realized that, but i really didnt care. I wanted the AWD and the 6.0 and since this truck already had it, i was happy, and it already has everything painted, no chrome.

Speed, quickness, endurance, handling, etc.... is a function of $$$ in the auto industry. You can take just about any vehicle and make it faster than most anything around, but it will cost you. Look to Parish8's roughly $12K investment to get his Z71 into the 11s. That is a full 4+ seconds off the stock time, which is amazing, but it came at a price.

""Plus, I think the AWD will be a big bonus when it gets a power adder and some nice mods.""
Agreed! After driving my truck this winter and having ZERO traction in the rain, the AWD makes alot of sense to me now. You can go for the big bang and just get a supercharger from the get go. If I bought an SS and did the same mods (leaving stock muffler of course) to it as I've done to my truck, it would be a low 14 or high 13 second truck. Several of the mods I have would transfer right over to it (hmmm), but for 40K, not right now.

I paid a little over half the sticker cost of a SS silverado and with only $2,000 to be spent in mods and $300 in an SS front bumper I think I can equal the performance of the SS and have 14 bolt diff
