Would this be a good idea???

I own a 2000 Gmc Z71 5.3, its got the push button 4x4, well the other day i was remanissing of when i had my 85 jimmy, and you'd have to git out everytime to lock the hubbs if you wanted 4x4 to be engauged. And when i wanted to spin my big back tires i would put it in 4-low and not lock the hubbs, which would make it 2-low, giving it a really low gear. Well here's what i'm thinking just tell me what you think (if it would help or hurt or if it would even work). I would put it in 4-low then take the 4x4 fuse out, which would give me 2-low right???? Cause the truck would be in 4-low when i took it out...or would it go back in 2-high would this kill my rear end ,or my motor, or my computer? Any one here tried it? What gear ratio would it be? Just tryin to think how to launch hard...if the tires would hook. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

You would probably fry something but someone has to be the guinea pig so try it!!! Hey POPE I replied on the Appearance board to your post about the 03 turn signal mirrors. Have you researched it any yet?

I read a post on another board where a guy was at the 1/8th mile track. He was getting about 10.4s in his excab Z71 with autotrac. He switched it to 4LO an made the run and got a 9.7 I think. I doubt that you'd have enough gear to get you through the 1/4 mile in 4 low, but who knows.

if you are just looking to fry your tires i am sure it would help but to put it 4lo without the front locked in wont make you anyfaster if yor spining forever. i think i would jump under the truck and unplug the solonoid on the front diferential if that is what you want to do but it might turn on a ses light.

daing i was hoping i could have some killer launch... o well, Hey cashdude I found the mirrors, tbyrne has them for your application , and dealersportruck.com, tbyrne is 270$ heated , no dimm, and the dealersportruck says 164$,but you have to call for your application, so i hope this helps you as much as it does me.
