Posted some wastegate pics for everyone to check out. See anything weird in these? I circled a irregularity in the diaphramg so it would not be missed. I don't think the ripple is a problem but who knows at this point. I sent allot more pictures to Allen at Nelson and Dave at STS. They are scratching their heads too.

Some times the diaphragm gets pinched on assembly (some times they even come pinched from Tial). That could definitely be your problem.

The first pic is the valve seat.

Also, its hard to tell in a picture, but that spring looks kinda big. For reference, the .8 bar spring I have now is also red If that spring looks like the max diameter that would fit in the wastegate, it may be the .8 bar.

I think I still have a .4 bar and a .5 bar to show the diameter difference. I'll hunt around tonight and see if I can post up a pic.

Tim, on the last pic of the top of the wastegate you see two levels or places in the wastegate the spring could sit. If you sit your spring down in the wastegate, it should sit on the smaller lip on the inside just around the base of the cone. If its on the outside, it may be that the spring is too big. There are large and small springs for these wastegates.

I am clueless when it comes to FI so
this may be crazy

but could it be running so rich
that its wetting the cats
and causing a cooling effect in the exhaust

making boost increase?

The spring does not sit on top of the boss, it sits down on the outside of the boss on my wastegate. Is this wrong or right??? Who knows, STS has all these pictues as well as more. they are sending me a new spring this week, I hope it gets here soon!! I did post all the lenghts and diameters for the spring in this post..... I think, I'll look back to check.
