Greg, thanks.. yes, I am on the list.. Still second but I was left off of the list above..

Terry, you are right..I payed a whopping 35,000 for my texas cadilac and its pretty slow without the steriods but its has way more shock value than the hawk. That means more fun.

This truck can off road like a Beeeaach, put 6 adults in it and still spank most cars on ther road (kills mustangs), the trucks size demands lane respect all the time, Can haul several thousand lb payloads , tow 10,000 plus lbs, run 13.5s on spray, 15.2`s on motor but from a roll runs like a low 14 second car.. and much , much more..Most of haul, I have plenty of room for my 6`6" 250 lb muscle ****..hehe Thats my 2 cents to the thread topic..

Damn, that was hard digging that old hawk info up for you but living is living

The only guy I ever knew named "Burger" was known as "Booger" -- any relation? If you drive your sonoma to Missouri and beat my "02 5.3 full size I'll pay your expenses and give you a grand. If you lose you give me 2 grand. Let me know if you are coming and I'll make you reservations at the Holiday Inn. Oh wait a minute-sounds like you must have already stayed at one since you seem to be an imitation performance enthusiast. Go away dude.

Hello Terry,
Nice introduction...came in with guns blazing an everything. I wondering how long it would take you to invade our realm once you bought the Sonoma.

quote:
I figured the 30k LS1 trucks should at least run high 13s/low 14s stock...

Most of these trucks probably cost 20-25K unless you count the 4X4 or crew cab types. Mine was 21,500 with all the options -leather power seats. An by the way...Quit playing dumb...do the math. I know you know it . 325 ci with 285 FWHP (5.3L 9.5:1CR) 4500 for us "little" full size trucks and 6000 for the 4x4s. No astropyhsics here

quote:
I thought the 4.8/5.3 were mini LS1's and the 6.0 was a monster LS1?

Last time I checked I didn't have an LS1...I have an LM7.

quote:
This is your crème of the crop, yet over 50% of the trucks in your top 25 are 15s or slower, and I guarantee a lot of those 15 second trucks have been modified. Maybe you're just a really good driver?

Actually a driver's skill still makes a difference...I know you know Justin S. (93' patriot Z28) and his 02' 5.3L SCSB ran 14.880 @ 91 at gool ol' Carlsbad not but just 2 months ago. The 02' did get a bigger cam and some programming from factory but 2.0 60's manually shifting and carrying out the right gear through the traps helps too. He droped from 15.1-14.8 with just that...not to mention he weighs like a 110 lbs wet, two layers of clothes and after holding a crap for a week, but you know he's small. Hell...if I could drop to his weight I'd pickup 1-1.5 tenths...yeah do the math I'm fat.

And if you want to race "hoods down" in your truck bring it ...I'll be at Carlsbad July 28th for the SAFE races.

Until then happy trolling

Richard I was planning on racing you in the Z28. The hoods down truck race is only if you want to run for $500 or more.

If it's so easy to run 13s in those trucks, why is the majority of the top 25 truck list in the 15s?

Ahhhh poor Terry has truck envy!!! Terry that is what happens when you have something little and want bigger. I figured you would be used to it by now.

$500 hoods down in the your truck by the 29th of July...Hell I'll run hoods up and I guess that means I hurry Larry @ Valley Head and slap on my LS6 heads on the project motor with my controller and the Direct-port.

13's are not that hard to be had but you have to see that a truck has much more a dual function than a car. Most truck owners would problably be content with more towing power and better gearing than peak HP/TQ or ET. Look at the aftermarket too...when was the last time you saw a magazine which featured bagged and salmmed F-bodies with better surround sound than most homes (and from your pics ...DEFINATELY better than yours )

It's only the enthusiast which desires to scrap the multi-purpose nature of the truck and attempt to cross the line into all out performance vehicle. The investment to acheive the same numbers as an equally equiped car is two fold...70/30 weight distribution sucks too. Hell even Lingenfelter's TT 6.0L 4x4 was slower than my truck, but they are not the same animal.

When was the last time you considered a Interstate road trip in your 10 sec creation? Not likely...But I guarantee Brooke would have no problem piling in the family for an intrestate run without hessitation...and still be able to smack down a few Mustangs along the way.

Richard

A little fuel for Terryble's fire:

This was taken off the LS1Tech 1/4 mile list in the Drag Racing section. Considering there are 88% more cars to compare to, here it goes.

Considering a 3 second differance....
Cars All 346, 5.7, power adders included, A4 = 160 cars

100% below 13.5
92% below 13
75% below 12.5
55% below 12
22% below 11.5
8% below 11
1.5 % below 10.5

Trucks All 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0(the 3 6.0 were 4x4's and a 2500HD) power adders included, A4 = 20 trucks

100% below 16
75 % below 15.5
60 % below 15
40 % below 14.5
30 % below 14
5% below 13.5
5% below 13

Now by the percentages, The trucks are holding there own. Terry, I know you like to start **** everywhere you go, but like Oxidizr said, these truck were bought with usefulness in mind. We can drive these trucks to the track and drive them to work and pull trailers, travel trailers and racecars to the track with them. Now, stop complaining. I was on your side when everyone said your Sonoma would not tow your car. Considering, thes trucks were not made for speed, these guys are not doing to bad. Remember 2 years ago when 11's were almost unheard of in the stock block 5.7 LS1's? Now look at them. These trucks are a little behind, for one reason being that the performance parts and upgrades are not as plentiful as the ones for the cars. The ford lightning is a truck built for speed, the only truck built for speed. The f-body LS1 was built for speed. The new gen GM trucks are NOT built for speed, but they are faster than comparable Ford and Dodge's trucks other than the $32k+ Lightning.

Now, this section is titled "GM V8 Truck Performance" . Nowhere does it say anything about the 4.3 V6. So play nice Terry.

Rebutle required......
