Default who has a fbody cam? Or help me grind a low end cam

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

installed one in a friends 99 4.8 a few days ago and i gues that was a nice little bang for the buck. Does anyone know for sure how much hp you see roughly? I have a 00 vette 209/198 .500 115.5 cam im gonna slap in.. i was plannin on the 01 ls6 cam, but im afraid that may cost me to much bottom end. The 00 vette cam was a good deal so thats why i got that.

also, will be adding LT headers and a TB 2600 soon

next choice... if I could grind a custom type deal, whats a GOOD STOCKKKKK idling cam for low end and mid range?

I like the 212/218, but that to big for my truck! I would like to have something in the 205-210 range on 114.. i really dont wanna tune, so that why i was slapping the ls1 cam in there. Lemme know some good SMALL cam choices that make good low end and power in the mid-upper rpms also

thanks

Your camshaft must cooperate on the stock tune? There is no way you'd even do a mail order tune?

Lunati offers a series of Street/Strip cams and the one that offers the best low-end and mid-range power is their part # 55001. Specs are 212/216 .471/.507 116*

Supposedly, this cam would not require any PCM tuning.

i have the 2000 vette cam in my truck and i like it. it's small compared to what most people go for but it works. up top feels so much better. i did notice that i lost some bottom end. i installed 4.10 gears to get it back since i dont' have a stall. well, i got it back to my normal time, but i didn't really see any gains until i raised my shift points to 6100 rpm. then the cam started to shine...for the money, it's a no brainer...

from what i have gathered; just go a bit bigger and get a mail order tune with it. i dont think you will be dissappointed.

i myself plan on doing this eventually
