I'm curious as to how many of you guys have blown your motor? How long did it last? What kind of power? How hard did you beat it?

I'm at almost 87K now ..... I'm revving to 6K and am waiting for it to grenade on me.

When I get back from basic, I'll get my traction straight and then look at nitrous or that custom turbo idea I had.....

I just don't want to even put a 300 dollar custom nitrous kit on an over the hill motor.

i've got 88k on mine and about 50k of those is with a whipple. it has taken alot of 9+psi runs and some with a 50 shot and still runs strong. oh yeah, has seen 6200 rev limiter quite a few times and has ran hot twice so i wouldn't worry about it.

I had 85k on the stock 5.3L and beat on it it stock for about 50k of those miles. Then the last35k or so was with all the bolt-ons and cam and a 6800rpm rev limit, shifting at 6600rpm or so.

I blew it up after the turbo but I don't know exactly what caused it since I had a SERIES of unfortunate events happen all at once.

The 2nd 5.3L went after some water suckage and then a thorough beating at the track on 14-15psi. It's technically still running strong but the noises it makes it quite aweful.

I blew cylinder 7 on my 5.3 with a KB supercharger at 60K. Tuning is critical! If you have a good tune then it would stand a better chance to last longer. Despite a blown cylinder Im still driving everyday until th 6.0 gets installed next week!

I blew up my 6.0 at 22,000 miles. My dumbass friend wired up my nitrous wrong......... BOOM broke the #8 piston into about 4 or 5 pieces.
