Well, they don't actually add HP, they just free up HP that's already there If I ever do underdrive pullies it will be my last mod when I've run out of other things to do.

The HP will go up at the wheels AND at the crank since the engine is turning more efficiently. Your thinking would mean no bolt ons give HP just free up what's already there...So does a cam give you some HP or is it just freeing up what was already there? All it's doing is giving the motor more flow right?

Meh, I guess it's all just terminology....to me a cam adds HP since it changes the internal dynamics of the engine. Whereas bolt ons such as exhaust, also just free up what's already there, although exhaust will "add" hp at the rear wheels. 6 to a 1/2 dozen...

See, I think intake and exahust do add HP. Because once you change from stock (tuning withstanding), you're adding HP from what the manufacter set it at, if that makes sense... lol

I have some ASP pullies (UDP/ODP). I'm going to have them isntalled this week, but I won't be able to do before and after because of the gear swap too.

I think if they 'buy me' a tenth, or two, it's probably worth it. No different than buying an instake, or exhaust... about the same result performance-wise, IMO.

thats about right. The underdrive pulleys are most noticable in first gear. When there is a rapid change in rpms.
