Mine is iron blocked. I think some are/will be aluminum versions. If there is a way to prolong the time it stays V4, I think there would be some fuel mileage gain. On my truck it simply wont use the mode much, and it unlocks the torque converter every time it switches. I need a tuning fix to keep it in V4 longer.

Spent some time digging around...
Can't find anything with like a gear vendor overdrive in a 944...
I don't think there is anyway to get good milage with as much gear as they come with there are higher 4th and 5th gears you can swap in(not helping)
www.renegadehybrids.com <-conversion kit
turbos came with lower gearing!

yeah
might just turbo this 4cylinder. just went to the dyno with it. this is a mustang dyno. 114rwhp, 117rwtq. the tq was right around 110ft/lbs from 2500 all the way up to 6000rpm. that would be around 131rwhp on a dynojet. i am happy with that for now. just got another tank of fuel and got 24.5mpg and i am beating on it more and more so i am happy with that too. turbo it and try for double that hp and i might be happy for awhile.with the turbo tranny the gearing is higher other than overdrive wich is about the same. then you can take a na 5th gear and swap it into the turbo tranny and impove the rpms a little. right now i am around 3200 at 75mph. with the turbo tranny and na 5th that gets it down to something like 2600rpm. dod a 4.8 at 2600rpm and the mileage might be ok.

i've heard some people have issues with dod not engaging for long. almost like it's real finicky about not shutting off cylinders under ceratin loads. I would think that in a light car such as that porsche it wouldn't be an issue though. It'd be pretty neat to see a porsche loping like a mad man that gets 25mpg. Just do it parish
