yes the wet plug is the one that is blowen.
don't just replace the one head gasket, do the other as well,
and when your done, pull a vacume on the cooling system to get rid of any air pockets.

Blown head gasket. You guys are lucky though. I cannot believe you put 10psi down and didn't hear any detonation. (It sounds like popcorn in your engine or shaking an empty spray paint can really fast) If you hear ANY detonation let off as it is not worth the risk. Detonation will chew your pistons up very quickly. GET A TUNE -he is not getting enough fuel.

Like JamesB said check out a multi layer steel head gasket "m.l.s." I know GM makes them for LS1 engines, but they are for a 3mm larger bore size than the 5.3L trucks are. See if Cometic has them for the 5.3L bore size. The stock truck Graphite gaskets aren't the best for boost. If he can swing it, tell him to check out some ARP Head Studs since you will be in there anyway and cannot reuse the stock torque to yield head bolts since thay have been torqued once.

TR6 plugs are fine.

On head replacement be sure to get ALL of the coolant out of the head bolt holes by twisting up paper towel and sticking it all the way in those holes. It is a tedious (sp?) task, but it must be very dry to get proper torque readings when installing the new head bolts or studs. Clean the holes too. Here is a good site for what I am talking about:http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?ar...6455f52b866bb6

damn you guys got pretty lucky..when you have the head gasket situation done..make sure to address your fuel system..what injectors are you running? fuel pump? id put the stock pulley back on until you can upgrade the fuel system and get tuned... IMO on 10 psi your gonna need alky or an intercooler to keep those iats down, they must be insane on a hot air twin screw with 10 psi....also try running some higher octane fuel and buy your cousin a scan tool for christmas and maybe ls1 edit... so u guys can monitor and log what the truck is doing and not have to guess...i have efi live, i love it. your cousins truck will hauls *** when you guys are done and do it right..a dialed in twin screw setup is not to be fucked with... puts my ATi procharger setup to shame.

If he's running 10psi and those 42# injectors he better be shopping for a fuel pump before he gets on it much anymore. The stock pump will run out of steam around 5500rpm, maybe a little lower, pushing that much power.

10 psi with no intercooler or tuning is just, well let's say not smart. Please ... for the sake of the motor, don't do that again until you get a scan tool and some tuning.

If it's only a head gasket ... you guys just don't realize how lucky you are.

If you have to pull the heads (which you do), you should think about replacing the 5.3 heads with standard 1999+ LS1 heads. They aren't too expensive. You'll benefit with a larger intake valve and your compressino ratio will drop below 9:1.

Before you pull the heads, do a leakdown test and a compression test. This will determine what is going on.

my 2001 had 92K on the 4.8... When i dropped the 6.0L it had about 52+K on it. I love driving it around, but i do so much with school and work that the miles rack up quick.

Im thinking about S/C my 6.0L but i want to be 100% ready/have everything when i do it. I already have FMS tune so getting mr allen to modify it wouldnt be that hard. I will replace head bolts, cam, gaskets fuel setup when i do it so that it runs more efficient and is more durable.

10lbs of boost is a pretty large amount, (w/o an intercooler/program/better fuel pump if you ask me) but my experiences are limited.

Hope everything turns out ok guys.
