Its dripping oil out the side of the block so definetly its the gasket. The spark plug that would be wet would have to be the one closest to the leak right?

I hope you are right rcfast! A blown head gasket is better than a blown motor!

If that engine isn't blown its the messiah of the 5.3 Liters. Pull the heads and check, don't ask us

On another note. Be sure to get that head off and all the water out asap so it doesn't do any damage, and try getting it back running as soon as you can. Also should be a given but change the oil and flush the cooling system after you get it back together. And once you get it running don't romp on it until you figure out what was causing the detonation otherwise you will be in the exact same situation or worse almost instantly.

What would cause detonation? He's got the TR6s. Maybe a tune should be next. What if there is no water mixed in there? If its just the gasket, it should be up and running soon.

Try using some high quality gaskets. The Gen-III blocks have fewer bolts holding down the heads than the old SBC. I'm not sure if Cometic makes gaskets for it yet - they make a great multi-layer steel gasket with good sealing strength. That's what a forced-induction motor needs. I run Cometic head gaskets on mine too.

Thanx for all the info guys! I will post up the teardown tomorrow. My cousin was gonna start taking it apart already. Damn a blown motor on a 01 with 55k miles really sucks.
