Default Whipple is in :-)! But boost question

Hey guys, thanks to all that helped me with my ton of questions.
It's finally in and it is great. pcm4less did a great job with the tune. My truck is way faster, lol.
Quick boost guestion, the boost stays at around 4.5 right up until about 5400 rpm (ish) and then touches 6lbs before it shifts.... Is this normal? I want 6lbs the whole time!! lol.

Thanks,
Nate

Your boost spike is normal before/during a shift, especially if you have a drive-by-wire throttle body ( TB not connected directly with a cable to your right foot, on most 02+ models ). Also the tranny torque management feeds something into the mix too ( backs off the engine torque ever so slightly for smoother shifts ).
I believe the spike is good as it keeps the boost levels from dropping when the gear shift happens and the revs dip accordingly.
I am just getting into the FI field and might be wrong on some of these points. Anyone?

I'll have pics soon. Details? Hmm, it's a whipple, stock pully, no whipple electronics, pcmforless tune, 43lbs injectors. I should have some times soo too. I don't get boost unless i get on it pretty good, or it's above 3000, this normal? It's not really the "instant boost at the touch of the throttle" that they preach on there website.

The whipple is different from the radix and from what ive heard unless you have a stall converter its not make a whole lot of boost till you get on it. I could be wrong dont much about the whipple units myself. Congrats on the install hope everything is good for ya!!!!!!!!

I have never driven or ridden in a whippled vehicle, but what you describe sounds about right in terms of boost timing, but a little low in terms of overall boost, both in the build up and peak, what engine is this on? Then again, the twin screw isn't my specialty, there are some very knowledgable guys on here regarding the whipple S/C, includng Parish, who is now a Turbo Nut

I have the stock pully on it, so i think the peak boost is about right... but yea, it doesn't make instant boost like they say, i kinda have to get on it to get anything...it's the LQ9 6.0. here are some pics:

Because the blower is after the throttle, the boost is relative to throttle opening. As soon as you open the throttle all the way, you get close to full boost, regardless of engine speed. With the throttle partially closed, you restrict the amount of air going into the blower, unlike most centrifugals, where the blower gets the air before the throttle body.
