Whipple is in :-)! But boost question

I think it has more to do with the design and its weakness, "any off boost condition", like idle. Nothing against your choice at all NateZ

t's just kinda weird, cause whipple preaches the no lag instant boost thing, and i have heard that as being a plus from other people of there design? i dunno... Mabye i havent bypasses the whipple electric bypass thing correctly or somthing still, i'll get into it tomarrow some.

Let me rephrase just alittle....
If i nail it, i get instant boost. However, it's when i am just accelerating normally, i see zero boost, and zero vaccum, it sits in the middle. If i get on it alittle bit, it only makes like 4lbs of boost above say 2900. then it just shifts normally. Does that make any sense and does it sound about right? Mabye i just need to take a ride in someone elses blown truck so i can see whats goin on.

Maybe it's operating fine.
The Radix behaves in the same manner. Floor it, instant full boost.....which is exactly what you are describing here as what the Whipple does when you floor it.
The rest of the time boost is throttle dependent. If I am idling, I am in full vacuum. If I give it gas, it raises up, and depending on how much gas I give it, I can make the boost gauge sit at zero, 1psi, 2psi, etc., all depending on how much throttle I give it (i.e. 10%, 30%, 50%).
The 4.5 lbs of boost you are getting may be exactly what you are supposed to be getting with the pulley you have, and the motor you have. Is that a Silverado SS you have? If so, the pulley that would give my LM7 6 psi would only give the LQ9 only 4.5 psi. Perhaps you have the wrong pulley for your motor.

I think it's fine the way it is. I have a Whipple on my 5.3 and from a standstill if I punch it will get instant boost. If I just drive normal in town I will barely see boost at all until I get into it again on the gas pedal. I can be on the highway doing 80 and as soon as I take my foot off the gas I'll see all vacuum. Like everyone else said it depends on the throttle position.
Have fun with it.

No not when i let off, when i was cruising, it was on cruise control... -10. i thought it should be at zero at cruise? It's not making as much boost as it was yesterday, i think there might be a problem , leak or somthing somewere it's really wierd. any suggestions?
