Whipple 8psi Pulleys
#1
Interested in increasing the boost for my whipple from the current 6psi to 8psi.
Are the guys at whipple supportive of customers trying to make changes to their kits? Anywhere else to turn to for the necessary pulleys and/or other parts?
Thanks,
GREGG

My experience with Whipple is that they are idiots. The will tell you that 1/8 in pulley reduction=1lb boost. In my case it took 1/4" to get 2 lbs. As far as I know they are the only source. They told me that changing the pulley would void the warranty but since I have been screwed on more than one warranty claim over the last few I have a bad attitude 'bout warranties so I said "whatever". They said they would have to fax me a warranty disclaimer agreeing to a voided warranty for me to sign before they could ship the pulley. I told them to fax it and I would sign, urinate on it, and snail mail it back asap. I never received a fax but they went ahead and sent the pulley. Total idiots. Sorry for rambling, but you asked <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

L-Eater,
Thanks for the response.
Did you have to make any adjustments to the Whipple software to accomodate the increased boost w/ more fuel? I am hoping that it is simply a pulley change and that their initial set-up is just conservatively "rich".

yea, sounds like sound math to me.
i agree they are idiots and not very helpfull especialy if your are uping the boost. you will need to order a pully 1/4 inch smaller to see close to 2psi, it will be less but that is ok 8psi is alot. i think you will have problems if you just throw the 8lb pully on, there are alot of things to consider is your fuel pump and injectors large enuff? how much detonation are you going to get, it would be good to watch yout 02's and your fuel presure and watch for knock retard, if you can do all that i would say give it a try and see what happens, the pully doesn't cost too much. even with enuff fuel you may not be able to make it work because of the extra heat.
when you call to order the pully don't even tell them what you are doing just order the smaller pully.

Diameter- I went from 3 5/8 to 3 3/8 and it went from 5 to 7 psi. Whenever I get around to it I am gonna order a 3 or 3 1/8. Hope I don't have to urinate on the form again!!
