Default where's the boost?

for some reason, i can't get my boost above 8lbs lately. Don't know what the hell is going on. I should be up around 11. Also, for some reason, the truck feels like it's gonna stall when i'm in 4th, just cruising and the tcc locks up. The only thing i've changed lately is the ported tb. Any thoughts on either issue?

we've had some pretty good temperature change here in the last couple of weeks. About a 10 degree gain in ambient temp has shown me about 1/2 a pound less boost with all other things remaining constant on my combo.

I'll bet others have more experience with that.

come on, somebody has to be able to give me a logical reason why my boost won't go as high as it should. Can't be the ported tb could it? maybe my belt is all of a sudden slipping? any suggestions?

Ok, so I called Whipple today and got Steve. He's so pleasant. anyway, after i stopped laughing at him for telling me i'm gonna blow up my engine if i run more than 5lbs boost, he told me i probably melted my cats and probably have pieces of metal stuck somewhere in my exhaust system. I called my exhaust guy and he agreed. anyone have any feedback on this?

What he was really trying to tell you was to check your boost fluid levels and your muffler bearings for wear.

Hahahah...

I would slap a new belt on there first to make sure the old one isn't slipping. That would be the cheapest solution and if that isn't it well, you have a new belt now.

I'd think the exhaust being clogged would cause the boost pressure to show higher not lower but, hey it could be it.

I'm not real familiar with the Whipple setup but, if you had a leak at the throttle body you'd probably be showing a lean code by now. A 3psi leak would be making some pretty good noise to I would think.

Do you still have the stock TB or did you turn it in for a core charge? If you have it or can borrow one from somebody try putting a stock one back on and see if the problems go away.

Is the Whipple bypass valve working right? That could cause you to lose boost if it was malfunctioning.

the stock tb is gone. i've tried 2 diff ported ones. same result. I'm at a loss. i guess i have to assume it's the exhaust. As far as the whipple bypass valve, i have no idea if it's working properly. how could i test it?
