Then do every thing you want down the road. Not trying to be a dick just trying to get you to see the light.
I mean if you find a 4.8 for like 400 bucks complete with all accesories and intake cover to oil pan then do it. But anymore and you might as well just try and find a 5.3. I just don't want you to get in a scuffle with a 5.3, he burns you , then wish you didn't get the 4.8.

Yea like i said im not set in stone on either. As for racing as mentioned above. Wont be happening. This is strictly for the simple reason that my v6 is ready to go so why not upgrade some ive been happy with the v6 all this time but dont want to be on the side of the road.

And whatever motor i get will end up modded just for myself casue its what i like to do.

I understand where all you guys are coming from but you are all motor heads lol i simply like to cruise smoothly

there's nothing wrong with a 5.3. You can get them complete for $200-300 all day long. A comparable condition 6.0 is 5x that price.

I picked up my 04 LQ4 locally at a salvage yard for $800 complete with computer harness and all accessories. I was there when they pulled it out. Only had 40K miles. Your just not looking hard enough!!!!

Just a quick couple questions. When you call them do you just ask them how much one is? Or do you actually talk them and see how much YOU can get it for? Just for future reference, life just don't bear you the best deals up front. You might have to put a little effort into it and talk to someone.

Do what you want to do. You seem pretty set on a 4.8 (for some crazy reason). Just remember, you did ask for opinions and we gave them to you. About 80% said to do the 6.0. Don't get upset. Others just like me have been in your shoes and waisted money on 4.8 and 5.3 "bolt ons"".

you will put a v8 in there, and your going be like hollllllyy shhhiiittt this is cool, then your going to pull over on the side of the road and kick yourself right in the *** because you bought a 4.8 over a 5.3 or a 6.0, hell has everyone forgotten about the ls1, you can get a ls1 cheap out of a wrecked camaro or t/a.

True that. Just saying LS1 or LQ4. Don't settle for a 5.3!

**** an ls1, way too much money.

LQ4 (with milled heads to raise compression) > ls1 any day
