What to replace v6 with i dont need no 6.0 :)

My v6 sucks but not replacing it cause im gonna go to the track or race. Just cause my v6 is getting weaker as i type this. Dont want to spend money to rebuild or put another v6 in. Would rather upgrade to 4.8 or 5.3. I was pretty set on a 5.3.
But ive been reading and see some nice numbers coming from stock 4.8s with a small turbo setup and i like this idea ive seen the turbo setups used on a few forums for about 1000.
Would this be a way to go? For awhile it would just be a simple 4.8 with ls6 cam and probably the usual bolt ons and tune. Also the 4.8 would be cheaper/easier to find. Im not lookin for super fast track times just a fun highway truck. Not sure what a simple 4.8 is capable of hp wise at the wheels but im looking for opinions. any one care to chime in and help?

i say be unique and do a trasverse mounted 3800 with the stock blower that should boost your power!
If you are gonna take the time and spend the money might as well do the 6.0 and then no need for a blower or turbo......idk what kits you saw for 1000 but ya might wanna triple that budget cause i went well over my 2k budget on my build and its not done! but i do have a 6.0
good luck

It's going to be the exact same swap going either a 4.8, 5.3, or 6.0 so you might as well go with the biggest. Even if you don't go to the track, it's always nice to be able to have that power in case you want to tow.

know what the difference between a 4.8 and 5.3 are? crank and rods. so if you get a block alone you can rebuild either one. and honestly you aren't going to enjoy the 4.8 that much. Theres a reason I have a LS1 block in my house.
haha. great minds think alike trever!

My truck will never tow or race its bagged on air ride suspension which is why im not looking for a lot of power. i don't want the 6.0 simply because i just don't need that much power so why spend more? And there are major price differences. I wont be able to buy local since my truck is bagged and no way to move a motor at the time. And ive been searching online and the prices differences are alot

You can't tell me that $400 is a major difference if you were planning to put a damn turbo on a 4.8 ok
A bagged truck is more than capable of hauling a motor home. There are no major differences between the 01+ 6.0s vs 4.8/5.3 as far as swapping goes. And if you plan on not driving the truck very hard then you probably won't need any tranny work for awhile.
