Default what is pcv valve? and how/when to change

hey yall. i was just wondering what it is and what it does. also how to change it out. thanks for the help....

The PCV valve is what lets freash air into the engine, the crankcase area. It stands for Positive CrankCase Ventilation. More than likely yours doesn't need changing. It's on the drivers side valve cover all the way on the back edge, like where the oil fill neck would be if the motor were turned around backwards. There is a hose attatched to it. Just pull it out of the valve cover, if you can see through it with the hose off ... it's fine. If you can't see thorugh it, you need to use a better quality oil and/or change it more frequently and replace the PCV valve.
