Default went to the track....HEATSOAK SUCKS!!!!!

i went to the track yesterday and ran my truck. i had been on the highway for an hour. the track doesnt have lights, so they shut down at sundown. i didnt have time to let it cool off worth a crap. it officially ran the WORST it ever has since i've owned it. i was royally pissed. i'm almost embarassed to post my times. next time i'm either going to a track that's open at night or going once it's cold outside.

99 5.3, CAI, flowmaster, 130k miles

17.057@79.93mph----------right after an hour drive to the track at 6pm
2.47 60ft

17.026@80.65mph-----------10 minutes later, removed headlight
2.57 60ft

16.72@81.5mph-------------after 45 minute cool down, held 2nd til 5500
2.51 60ft

16.9@82mph---------------right afterwards, held to 5500 in 1st and 2nd
2.49 60ft

if there is anything positive about this experience, i drove an hour there, raced 4 times, drove an hour back and only used a quarter tank of gas.

those are the numbers i would expect out of that truck. it is heavy and you have few mods. also it is a 99 so the stock tuning isn't so great. my 99 ran a 16.7 stock the one time i ran it and that was on a hot summer day.

it never is unGodly quick, but it was just nausiatingly slow. i could feel it bogging down instead of going like it normally does. i should expect low 16s in good circumstances.

The heat can kill ya if it starts pulling crazy timing. The 99' PCM is the DEVIL!! Get rid of it and there should be no reason why you can't run what most of us with 01'+ ECSB Z71s run. My best stock was 16.1@85mph or right around there. That was in 80-90deg temps. It was so long ago I just remmeber it was hot but not scorching.

Basic mods and a cam with a good tune will get you smokin.

This was with all the basic bolt-ons, Yankk 3000 stall and a Synergy Motorsports cam and tune.

ECSB Z71 14.29@96.8mph

yea i can feel it pull timing quite often. i hate that ****. i'm getting a cam, stall, and tune soon.

compared to how it normally drives, it felt like i had the AC on and another truck behind me on a trailer..... literally.
